Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Policy

This policy encompasses all NUSO business activities and operations, focusing on environmental sustainability, social responsibility, and ethical governance.

At NUSO, we recognize the importance of sustainable and responsible business practices. Our ESG policy is designed to guide our operations and decision-making processes in the USA, Canada, the UK, and Italy, ensuring we contribute positively to our planet, its people, and communities of all sizes.

Environmental Sustainability

The impact of industry on the environment has become inescapable. At NUSO, we believe it is the responsibility of every business, SMB to Enterprise, to be aware of energy sourcing and consumption, emissions, water management, and waste management.

By building our business on a Software as a Service foundation, we achieve tremendous economies of scale, delivering communication services to hundreds of customers from individual servers. This operational model allows us to monitor and control our impact on the environment while maintaining the operational agility to adapt to new methodologies and technologies as they emerge.

Carbon Footprint Reduction:

We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through energy-efficient operations, the use of renewable energy sources, waste reduction, and an employee-supported emphasis on reuse and recycling across all office locations.

Resource Efficiency:

We emphasize resource efficiency, especially in our data centers, choosing providers dedicated to the use of renewable energy sources, like AWS and Azure. We share these values with our partners and customers, encouraging similar goals and priorities for sustained business growth and success.

Sustainable Innovation:

We encourage innovation in sustainable cloud technologies and solutions that contribute to environmental conservation. Rather than installing ‘hard’ physically redundant equipment on individual premises, we concentrate on building energy efficient systems with ‘soft’ redundancies built into a centralized network.

These policies provide considerations in our procurement of goods and services to support our operations. Our policies are supported and encouraged by NUSO executives, management, and employees.

Social Responsibility

NUSO provides a diversified portfolio of cloud communications and CPaaS enablement solutions with a focus on frictionless delivery of services. Embodied by our mission of democratizing communications technologies for businesses and organizations of all sizes, social responsibility is a business priority for NUSO.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

We foster a workplace culture that values ensuring equal opportunities for all employees. Today, diversity has become a backbone of international business success. Diverse perspectives drive innovation and a greater understanding of our world and its markets.

Employee Engagement and Development:

We invest in employees through continuous learning opportunities, career development, and a supportive work environment. We strive to be transparent with employees, holding all-hands meetings for progress updates, new services and products, and any major events impacting NUSO as a company. Failure by an employee is viewed as a failure by management up and down the company.

Community Impact:

We actively engage in community initiatives, focusing on digital inclusion, education, and supporting local causes. We also support and encourage the community efforts of employees.

Modern Slavery Transparency Statement

NUSO supports and respects the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights for all, including the basic human rights of our employees and workers within our supply chain. We are committed to implementing and maintaining systems with the goal of ensuring modern slavery is not taking place anywhere within our organization or supply chain.

We are committed to engaging with our stakeholders and suppliers to be aware of the risk of modern slavery in operations and supply chains. NUSO maintains a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery.

Prevention, Detection, Reporting:

Recognizing and reporting modern slavery in any part of our business or supply chain is the responsibility of all those working for us or on our behalf. Failure to do so will result in termination as well as the reporting of these activities and all involved to the appropriate authorities.

Conflict Minerals

As a full stack Cloud Communications provider, we are aware that electronic products contain various minerals necessary for functionality, including tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold (referred to as “3TG”). 3TG are sometimes known as “conflict minerals” because of concerns about their mining and sale contributing to armed conflict and human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Dodd-Frank Act:

The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act requires publicly traded companies to report on the presence of conflict minerals originating in the DRC or adjoining countries in the products manufactured or contracted to manufacture. Despite being a privately held company (and not subject to the Dodd-Frank Act’s requirements), NUSO is committed to upholding the spirit of the Dodd-Frank Act and works to ensure that Conflict Minerals are not present in hardware we purchase or lease for use.

Multinational Compliance:

In addition to Dodd-Frank, NUSO strives to deliver products manufactured in an ethical way consistent with our efforts to be compliant with the laws in the countries in which we operate.

Not a Manufacturer:

As a Software as a Service provider of communications, we do not manufacture our own products. We do insist that suppliers be prepared to assist NUSO in meeting the Conflict Minerals reporting requirements in the countries where they operate.

Ethical Governance

With over 300 years of combined industry experience in telecommunications, corporate development, and operations, we at NUSO hold ourselves to the highest standards of business ethics and conduct. We also believe it is the personal responsibility of every employee and supplier as outlined below.

Corporate Integrity:

NUSO requires employees and suppliers to uphold the highest standards of integrity and transparency in all business practices.

Stakeholder Engagement:
